Voici la suite de votre texte sur la rencontre éventuelle de deux amis après 20 ans ! " On s'est donné rendez-vous " dans vingt ans ... en quelque sorte ... De l'attente, de l'émotion ... et ???

"Ca paraît assez intéressant" dit le policier "bien qu'il me semble qu'il ait beaucoup de temps entre les rencontres.Vous n'avez pas eu de nouvelles de votre ami depuis votre départ?"
"Bien, oui, nous avons correspondu pendant un moment" dit l'autre. "Mais au bout d'un an ou deux nous nous sommes perdus de vue.Vous savez, l'Ouest est assez vaste et je me suis trimballé un peu partout avec beaucoup d'entrain. Mais je sais que, s'il est vivant, Jimmy me retrouvera ici car il a toujours été le gars le plus
loyal et le plus fidèle du monde.Il n'oubliera jamais.J'ai fait des milliers de miles pour attendre à cette porte
cette nuit, et cela en vaut la peine si mon vieux copain se présente."
L'homme qui attendait sortit une belle montre dont le couvercle était serti de petits diamants.
Il annonça:"dix heures moins trois. Il était exactement dix heures quand nous nous sommes séparés à la porte du restaurant.
"Vous vous êtes bien débrouillé dans lOuest , n'est ce pas?"demanda le policier
"Tu parles!J'espère que Jimmy à fait la moitié aussi bien"

When ten O'clock rang, the man in the doorway lit his cigar and waited.
Half an hour later, just as he was going to leave, a slim figure approached and asked him:"Are you Bob?"
"Maybe, but you aren't Jimmy!"
"No, I'm Kate, his wife.Jimmy isn't here because he is in jail" she whispered
" In jail?
"Yes, he was sentenced to five years for a robbery;but before being arrested , he made me promise to come to the appointment you both arranged twenty years ago.My Jimmy is a staunched chap!"
"How long will he have to stay in prison?"
"I don't know exactly, because he was talking about a remission."
"Can you give me his lawyer's name,I'll see what I can do; but before leaving, take this and make a good use of it."
And he handed her his ring! 145 WORDS

Je ne suis pas sure d avoir le temps de faire la traduction , mais pour l instant voici ma fin de l histoire

Jimmy by his side hadn't brighly succeeded his business, after a bankrupt and a divorce, he had all lost. He was a jobless.
When he saw his friend, he recognised him immediately, he had not changed, he had always the same thin figure.
He started a conversation with him:
- You seems be a thriving-man, guy
The man who was waiting for, answered without known that he was speaking with his ancient friend. He explained:
- I show off, in reality I have got plenty of debts and in fact I am waiting for my best ancient friend, happy to see him again. Also expecting taking some money from him.
Jimmy went away without a word.(116 mots)

Nous pensions qu'en 20 ans chacun de nous aurait accompli son destin et que notre fortune serait faite quoiqu' il advienne.
'Ça semble intéressant dit le policier. N'empêche ça fait beaucoup de temps entre vos rencontres. Vous n avez pas entendu parler de votre ami depuis que vous vous êtes quittés ?
'Et bien en fait nous avons correspondu pendant quelque temps.Mais après un an ou deux nous avons perdu tout . Vous voyez, l Ouest est si vaste et je l ai arpenté de long en large..Mais je sais que Johny me retrouvera ici s il est encore en vie car il a toujours été le type le plus sincère et le plus fidèle au monde. Il n oubliera jamais. J'ai fait des kilomètres et des kilomètres pour être devant cette porte ce soir et ça vaut le coup si mon vieux copain apparaît.
L homme sortit une belle montre dont le cadran était serti de petits diamants.
'10 heures moins trois' dit il 'Il était exactement 10 heures quand nous nous sommes séparés sur le seuil de ce restaurant il y a 20 ans'
'Vous avez bien réussi dans l'Ouest on dirait' dit le policier
'Tu parles ! J espère que Johny a fait à moitié aussi bien que moi !

At 10 o'clock on the dot, a long shiny Cadillac slid along the curb just in front of the old restaurant. A man came down, approached and gave Bob a hug 'Hi old chap how are you after all these years in the Far West ? You've done well I guess ! Do you I didn't want to leave New York ? That was because I had a girl friend who was pregnant. I had a row with her husband and I killed him by misadventure. I spent 5 years in jail. The husband had been a very rich mafioso thus she inherited a lot of money..so in a way I've succeeded too haven't I ? And the car driver is my son Chris. I'm so glad we've fulfilled our wish. ☺

Comme vous l'aviez constaté, l'échéance était très en avance par rapport à la fin de la quinzaine... J'ai donc donné quelques heures de plus à d'éventuels travailleurs... Maintenant, tant pis, voici votre corrigé.
et à vous qui, malgré les vacances, avez travaillé sur ce texte (et même sur un Follow up Work... )

(1) … «our fortunes made, whatever they were going to be.» : seconde partie de phrase mal comprise. «They» refers to «our fortunes», c’est-à-dire la fortune de chacun des deux amis. Le problème était de spécifier «quelle que soit l’importance de cette fortune».
- staunch : dependable/ firm/ : ardent, fervent ; dévoué ; loyal.
- to be true to : être fidèle à

(2) the West is a pretty big proposition, and I kept hustling around over it pretty lively.
«to hustle» : s’activer, se presser, se démener. Lorsqu’il était dans l’Ouest, il ne savait pas où tenter sa chance. Il a donc beaucoup voyagé, s’est essayé quelque part, puis autre part («around»), et a fini, selon lui à accumuler une belle fortune. (d’où les diamants qu’il arbore [ Part 1 : His scarfpin was a large diamond, oddly set. Et Part 2 : set with small diamonds.]
I hope Jimmy has done half as well: «moitié aussi bien» serait déjà remarquablement bien !

L’homme aux diamants, Bobby, n’aura pas la surprise attendue … Il en aura une autre… Jimmy Wells n’est pas venu lui-même, mais a envoyé… un de ses collègues: le policier ! En effet, Il n’a pas oublié son vieil ami Bobby, «parti dans l’Ouest» et sait (grâce à son métier) que cet ami est recherché par la police à Chicago (pas vraiment the Wild West…, mais quand même à l’Ouest de New York !)
